This weekend was the 5th Annual Gusher Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K here in SE Texas. I have participated in the 5K every year but until late Friday evening, I had not registered due to one thing or another. Our oldest daughter is very active in this event as a runner and a volunteer. And, my 84 year old dad was going to participate and walk/run the 5K...(yes, you read that right!)
So, I contacted my daughter to see if it was too late to register. Of course it wasn't! So, off I go, early on Saturday morning with my dad and I am so glad I did!
You can see in the photo above the my dad and daughter are both sporting medals. My dad was second in his age division in the 5K and daughter, Kristen, was third in her age division in the Half Marathon! Awesome day!
I'm sharing this story because I feel it's so important to keep moving. It's good for our hearts, minds, and overall health. As paper crafters, our hobby involves quite a bit of sitting or standing in one place. We have to remember to stay active...for ourselves and for our families.
And, talk about inspiration...Here's my dad was in the local paper today!
This Stampin' Up! demonstrator is just a little proud and vows to keep movin'!
